How 1:1 Coaching Works

Calm, practical support — built around you.

At The Power of You, 1:1 coaching is a supportive, structured process designed to help you make sense of what’s going on, regulate emotions, and move forward with confidence.

Whether you’re a parent supporting a struggling child, a young person feeling overwhelmed, or an adult carrying stress, anxiety, or burnout — this is a space to slow things down and focus on what really matters.

Our coaching supports:

  • Children and young people who feel overwhelmed, anxious, disengaged, or misunderstood

  • Parents and carers supporting children who struggle in education, attendance, or emotional regulation

  • Adults experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, burnout, or feeling stuck

  • Individuals waiting for ADHD or autism assessments who want support now

  • People navigating life transitions, grief, loss, or confidence issues

You don’t need a diagnosis.  You don’t need to be in crisis.  You just need to feel that something isn’t working — and want support to change it.

What 1:1 Coaching Is (and Isn’t)

1:1 wellbeing coaching is not therapy and not a medical service.

We do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

What we do offer is:

  • A safe, non-judgemental space to talk

  • Practical tools for emotional regulation and resilience

  • Support to understand thoughts, feelings, and behaviour

  • Strengths-based, trauma-informed coaching

  • Guidance that helps you take action in daily life

We work alongside other services where needed, supporting you while you wait — or when you simply want to take ownership of your wellbeing.

Who 1:1 Coaching Is For

How the Coaching Process Works

Step 2: Agreeing a Support Plan

If we decide to work together, we’ll agree a clear plan based on your needs.

This includes:

  • Length of support (typically 6–12 weeks)

  • Session frequency (usually weekly)

  • Clear goals and areas of focus

  • Who else might be involved (parents, carers, school staff — when appropriate)

Everything is tailored. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here.

Step 4: Support Between Sessions

Coaching doesn’t stop when the call ends.

Where appropriate, support may include:

  • Reflection exercises or simple practices

  • Check-ins between sessions

  • Guidance for parents or carers to support progress at home

This helps changes stick — not just during sessions, but day to day.

Step 1: Free Discovery Call

We start with a relaxed, no-pressure conversation (online or by phone).

This is a chance to:

  • Talk about what’s been going on

  • Ask questions

  • Decide whether coaching feels right for you or your child

If we’re not the right fit, I’ll be honest — and help signpost where possible.

Step 5: Review and Next Steps

At the end of the agreed period, we review progress together.

You may:

  • Feel ready to move forward independently

  • Choose to extend support

  • Step down to less frequent sessions

The aim is always to build confidence and independence, not reliance.

Step 3: 1:1 Coaching Sessions

Sessions are 60 minutes, delivered via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

During sessions, we focus on:

  • Understanding what’s happening beneath the surface

  • Emotional regulation and coping strategies

  • Building confidence, self-belief, and resilience

  • Making sense of behaviours, thoughts, and feelings

  • Developing practical tools that work in real life

Sessions are calm, supportive, and paced around you.

Involving Parents, Carers, or Schools

When working with children or young people, support works best when adults are involved.

With consent and when helpful, coaching can include:

  • Parent or carer sessions

  • Joint conversations

  • Guidance on supporting emotional regulation at home

  • Liaison with schools or professionals

This is always handled sensitively, respectfully, and with clear boundaries.
